Prayer

01/16/2010

This is a something I have been thinking about a lot lately. Within my life I have been returning to a place where I can have moments of stillness when I can meditate on my own personal relationship to a higher power. I am extremely grateful for many friends around me who believe in the power of prayer and meditation and the way that it can pull us out of our self-centered lives. To be in service for others and to ask God for the guidance and wisdom to place me where I can be of service is the current state of the union for my inner world. What does prayer mean to you these days? Do you have rituals around morning prayer? Evening prayer? Or if you don’t pray, why not? Post a comment.

May all beings everywhere,
Both seen and unseen,
Dwelling far off or nearby,
Being, or waiting to become:
May all be filled with lasting joy.

    Remember this?
This food is the gift of the whole universe–the earth, the sky, and much ard work.
May we live in a way that makes us worthy to receive it.
May we transform our unskillful states of mind, especially our greed.
May we take only foods that nourish us and prevent illness.
We accept this food so that we may realize the path of practice.
